John Hicks

Founder and lead Financial Adviser

John was raised and educated in the UK. He trialed a few early careers in banking, currency trading and accounting before relocating to Australia in 2007 where he began a financial planning career.

Before establishing his own practice, he worked across boutique, mid-sized and large institutional firms all with different client demographics and specialties. He has seen it all with those experiences sharpening his strategic thinking and strengthening his commitment to personalized client care with clear understanding he needed to build an advice practice that was comprehensive (Strategy, Implementation, Product) but without the usual conflicted incentives common to financial planning.

John holds an Honours degree in Economics, a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and the SMSF Specialist Adviser designation. His depth of experience, academic foundations and high empathy, are the foundations of shaping a growing practice with a simple philosophy: clear advice and thoughtful strategy to support clients in making confident financial decisions.

Outside of work, John enjoys a busy family life with an energetic rescue dog (half-Kelpie) and an even more energetic two-and-a-half-year-old. In his limited personal time, he remains a loyal Crystal Palace supporter (English soccer), a dedicated reader (speculative fiction and history) and developing his skills in the culinary arts.

John is available to see clients in Melbourne (Yarraville) and nation-wide online (Teams/Zoom).
